Veneers and Bonding

Veneers are porcelain coverings for the front of your teeth. They can correct many types of cosmetic problems:

  • Covering discolored teeth
  • Lengthening teeth
  • Mending chips
  • Hiding spaces between teeth

How long does it take?

Veneers are completed in two visits. At the first visit your teeth will be filed and an impression will be taken. The impression will be sent to the lab so that they can fabricate veneers for a proper fit to your teeth. But before you leave the office temporary teeth will be applied to your filed teeth. Dr. Arrighi, Dr. Wang or Dr. Adkins takes great care in ensuring your temporary teeth are as comfortable and as aesthetically pleasing as possible. At the next visit, the temporary teeth are removed and the veneers are applied using a resin cement.

Do you need to file the whole tooth?

No. The benefit of using veneers vs. a crown, for example, is that much less of the tooth structure is lost during filing. The tooth remains very much as strong and as healthy compared to pre-veneers.

How long do they last?

Veneers have become a popular choice for cosmetic dentistry because they last much longer and resist chipping and discoloration unlike their counterpart, bonding.
